Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Therapy

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Phototherapy, is an effective treatment to eradicate red facial veins & flushing, improve acne rosacea, treat irregular pigmentation, remove hair, and reduce fine facial lines.

Truth in Aging

How long does an IPL treatment take?
About one hour. Approximately 30 minutes to numb your skin with anesthetic cream and 30 minutes to to treat the entire face.

What will I look like after?
Your skin will be pink and slightly swollen. In two or three days, you may have black "peppery" spots where deep hyperpigmentation rises to the skin's surface. These will flake off.

What’s the typical procedure?
After taking some before photos, a thin layer of numbing ointment will be applied. The ointment will stay on for 20-30 minutes and then your treatment will begin. Your eyes will be protected with safety goggles or laser eye shields. Although you will still see the bright flashings of the IPL light, your eyes are at no risk. You may feel some mild heat and some stinging through the treatment, much like a snap of a rubber band.

Who Should Do the Treatments?
A doctor, PA-C (certified physician assistant), ARNPs, RNs, or MAs.  In some states, licenced aestheticians are allowed to operate some lasers. All should be experienced in laser treatments or a dermotologist or plastic surgeon's office. IPLs can cause serious burns, so avoid spas where there is no doctor on site and where the lasers are operated with little or no formal medical training. Remember "technician" is often a term or title used when the person has no medical training.

Be suspicious of low cost "specials." Many IPLs that are sold to salons and spas have less power than the IPLs sold to doctor's offices. The treatment may appear to cost less, but not be equivalent in the laser used or the expertise of the personnel using the laser. Beauty Bloomers cannot recommend any at-home devices. We can say, from personal experiance, that IPL treatments performed as stated above, do work!
